Each week over the next few weeks I’ll be releasing a sewing kits for hand sewing and machine sewing, as well as video tutorials on my Youtube that can be followed to make the project! Any kids who need extra help can also schedule time to video chat with me and solve problems.
I am now taking orders for my Week 2 project, a Scrappy Strip Pieced Pillow. Any kids who have basic sewing skills should be able to accomplish this beginner friendly project, and it is a variation of the first project all kids do when they come for my after school classes! Pick up will begin Monday 3/30. You will get an email notifying you of pick up and I will also post to Facebook/Instagram that pick up is available. No kits will be shipped to avoid unnecessary strain on the postal system/myself.
Due to social distancing, all pick ups are placed on the stoop at the studio in a bin for you to grab from. Your name will be on your order. Let’s keep each other safe!
Each kit includes enough precut strips for each student to make a small pillow (everyone will be getting a pretty variety of cool colors) and a fat quarter of fabric for the back of the pillow. I apologize, but at this time I do not have enough stuffing for everyone to get fill for their pillow. You will need a sewing machine, thread, pins, scissors, and a pencil and a ruler to create your pattern. An iron is very helpful, but not 100% necessary. Your kids use the iron at the studio while supervised, and it’s many of the kids’ favorite tool, so maybe let them try it at home, too!
There will be a video for this project posted to my new Youtube channel on Monday 3/30.
