Late Fall Session begins 10/24 and final class is 12/5 (no class Thanksgiving week)
Old Spool After School Fashion Sewing is open to kids who are interested in learning to sew their own clothing! This class is geared to those in Middle or High School because the projects we do are much more challenging.
In this 6 week course your teen will learn all the basics and create a pair of pajama pants and a cozy raglan sleeved sweatshirt as their first two projects. Students who have been sewing with us for longer will focus on different projects discussed on the first day of class.
Learning how clothes are constructed is an important skill for teens with an interest in fashion design as well as excellent for those who have a penchant for expressing themselves through their style. Do they want to study fashion in college, maybe at FIT or Parsons? It’s essential they know how to sew and how garments are constructed. Julia, the owner of Old Spool, holds a BFA in fashion design from Parsons the New School for Design and loves to inspire younger sewists to learn how to sew their own clothing.
