This one time Intro to Sewing class is open to mature children 8 years old and up. We cannot have children under the age 8 of due to insurance purposes and you will be asked to confirm their age before class. Tweens and teens are welcome! **This is the first class all new students must take before Old Spool After School and Summer Camps** This is the last chance for your child to take the Intro lesson before Summer Camps begin!

In this one time beginner sewing class your child will become acquainted with a sewing machine, its parts and how to use it.

They will learn how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin and get sewing to create a cute little drawstring bag. We’ll go over the basic lingo associated with sewing and prove that anyone can sew a straight seam. All materials are provided.

Skills covered : How to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, properly cut fabric, pin, and sew straight seams with the correct seam allowance. We also use bodkins to pull the drawstring through our bags.

Prerequisite: None, this is the first class any new student should take. This is prerequisite for Old Spool After School and Summer Camp.

Materials Needed: None, just yourself and some sewing enthusiasm.

Join us for our monthly hand sewing class for kids ages 5+! No experience is necessary to join this class: each month we focus on simple hand sewing techniques and make small felt projects inspired by the current season, our favorite stories or whatever else inspires us.

For those who have attended in the past, we are no longer reading a book each month so we can get right to sewing!
