This class takes place 3 Thursdays in January from 7-9pm: 1/16, 1/23 and 1/30

For most people, a staple of their wardrobe is a soft, knit cardigan that goes with everything. The Blackwood Cardigan by Helen’s Closet, a wonderfully simple cardigan that has no closures, which makes it great to throw over your fall flannels!

The Blackwood cardigan comes in sizes from XS to 3X with a maximum bust measurement of 54”.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about choosing fabric, sizes offered and if you have the correct skill level for this class, we want you to come to class prepared

Prerequisite: You must be able to confidently work a sewing machine to join this class and have done a handful of projects you are proud of.  This is an Adult Advanced Beginner project because of the nature of knit fabrics to be a bit tricky to work with, but this can be your first knit garment!

Skills Covered: Sewing with knit fabrics on a regular sewing machine, tips & tricks involved with sewing with knits.

Materials Needed:

The Blackwood Cardigan, printed and assembled. Please contact me if you need assistance or will not have time to prep the pattern.

2 3/4 yards of knit fabric (3 yards if you are making an 2XL or 3XL) – suitable fabrics include heavyweight sweater knit, double knit, ponte knit, jersey knit, rib knit, French terry. Check my online fabric store blog post for great places to shop for fabrics.

**Please launder your fabric prior to the start of class! This assures that it shrinks before we sew it, not after!** 

All Purpose Polyester thread to match fabric

*optional 4 buttons, but they are for decor not function.
