Event Details

The ancient art of tapestry weaving has gotten a makeover with modern color palettes and super fun fibers, learn how to make your own small wall hanging on a birch tapestry loom in this one day workshop! All the materials you need to create your wall hanging are included and we’ll teach you how to set up your warp, weave a plain weave as well as a few decorative techniques and finish off your weaving- including tassels and fringe!

We will supply enough yarn for students, but if you want more control over your color palette you are welcome to bring your own yarn! Chunky yarns- worsted weight and bulky- work best for this project.

Prerequisite: None! This class is open to students as young as 8, but we ask kids under 10 are accompanied by an adult.

Skills Covered: Setting up your warp, materials and tools needed to weave, intro weaving techniques, incorporating different weights of yarn and textures, finishing your weaving.

Materials Needed: none, unless you’d like to bring your own yarns for weaving. You are also welcome to make this a Sip & Stitch and bring your favorite beverage along!

Materials provided:  Loom and tools ($24 value), an assortment of yarns for weaving, a wooden dowel for hanging your finished project.
