Indigo is the magical plant that has allowed us to dye beautiful royal blues throughout history, while Shibori is the ancient Japanese art of resist dying. Spend a Saturday afternoon at the studio learning how to prepare a dye vat, prepare your fabrics, review a few Shibori techniques and dye your own fabric! Keep in mind, this workshop will take place half inside and half outside at the studio, so hope for decent weather and come dressed appropriately.
This is an adult class. Mature students as young as 8 are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
**All students must wear a mask when attending classes at the studio**
Skills Covered: How to prepare a dye vat and materials needed, preparing your fabric, shibori techniques from Arashi, Itajime, Kanoko and Kumo.
Materials provided: All materials you will need to dye, including 1 yard of plain weave cotton fabric. If you would like to bring your own natural fiber items to dye (old tshirts!) or purchase additional cotton muslin from us, you are welcome.
