Next in our Guest Workshop series here at Old Spool (and for the first of 2019) we’re welcoming our friend Melissa of the Jersey City based company The Lucky Honeybee for a pour-your-own candle workshop!
During this 2 hour workshop on Saturday January 19th from 6:00-8:00pm you will create your own 8 oz soy wax based candle using essential oils following Melissa’s guidance for melting and pouring the candles. The evening is BYOB and we will supply some light treats for you to snack on while our candles cool!
All materials are provided, you just need to bring yourself and your favorite beverage.
Melissa is an ambitious DIYer who started experimenting with small batch, eco-conscious and hand poured soy based candles back in 2010 when she was getting married as a thoughtful favor for her own wedding. Now, 8 years later, Melissa makes hand poured candles and apothecary goods to round out her brand The Lucky Honeybee and offers them in boutiques and at artisan markets around NJ. We at Old Spool love Melissa’s candles- if you’ve ever come into the studio and commented on how nice it smells here, it’s all thanks to her! Also, if you’ve ever had headaches and figured it was from traditional, store bought candles, then Melissa’s candles are the solution- conventional candles are made with Paraffin, a toxic waste product from the petroleum industry and consciously sourced soy candles burn clean with no chemicals or additives!
(Saturday) 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
