A fun challenge for Beginners is sewing a zipper! Let’s demystify the process of sewing a zipper by making our very own zip pouch. You will be able to choose from a small, medium or large pouch and whether or not you box the bottom corners. Just be sure to purchase a long enough zipper!
**All students must wear a mask when attending classes at the studio**
This an adult class, but is open to mature students as young as 8 as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Please contact us with questions.
Prerequisite: Our Intro to Sewing Workshop (or equivalent private lesson) or the ability to confidently thread and work a sewing machine. This is a beginner class.
Skills Covered: Inserting a zipper, creating a lined pouch, boxing corners to create volume (optional)
One Fat Quarter or a 1/2 yard of outer fabric (quilting cotton)
One Fat Quarter or 1/2 yard of lining fabric (quilting cotton)
One half yard of lightweight interfacing (s911FF is in stock at the studio)
A regular zipper at least 9” long. The longer the zip, the wider your pouch may be.
1 spool of matching all purpose polyester thread.
Materials provided: Interfacing if necessary, sewing machines, and all the notions you need.
