How about the coolest way to impress your friends and family this Winter: let’s learn to arm knit! In this Saturday afternoon workshop, our friend Rachel will teach you the beginner-friendly method of arm knitting (really, even the least coordinated of you out there can handle this with a bit of help, it’s much simpler than *real* knitting with needles!) so you can knit up your own chunky and cozy throw blanket for your home.
Materials Needed: Each student must purchase the appropriate amount of Jumbo yarn for their blanket. This is the fattest/largest yarn available, and if you purchase a thinner yarn (often called chunky or bulky) it will result in a looser knitted blanket and is not recommended. Michael’s and Joann’s both have jumbo yarn and it can be purchased online or in store. *The minimum number of balls needed is 6 (around 150 yards of yarn) which will make a throw sized blanket, which is the size you will be able to finish during class*
If you’d like a larger blanket you should purchase more balls of yarn, or if you are uncertain, you can always purchase more and return them.
Please contact us if you have any questions about the yarn! We are happy to help you shop!
Here are a few resources that you can purchase online:
Loops & Threads Chunky Grande (100% Acrylic) Dusty Pastel Multi, Dark Grey and a Brighter Multi Colored version are in stock to ship
If you find a bulky yarn, but not jumbo, that you’d like to use, please purchase 2x the amount recommended and you will knit with 2 strands at a time.
